Suits from CHF 898, alongside shirts, trousers and coats – and shoes made in the same house as the wardrobe above them. If you like, you build a wardrobe over the years in which each piece suits the next, because the same hands and the same mills stand behind them. But starting with a single suit for one occasion works just as well.
It starts with a conversation in the showroom on Albisstrasse, not with a catalogue. We want to know what the garment is for – the office, a wedding, an occasion in summer – and what has bothered you about clothes so far. Almost everything else follows from those answers: the cut, the weight of the cloth, the colour.
Then come the measurements – not three numbers but the whole body including posture, since a sloping shoulder or a slight sway back decides more about the fit than any standard size. In parallel you choose the cloth: over 3000 to pick from, from Loro Piana through Zegna to Dormeuil.
The work happens in our own atelier in Wädenswil, by hand. That is what the weeks between measuring and handover are for: a jacket is made of more than a hundred pieces, and the layers of canvas, lining and cloth have to fall together rather than merely sit side by side. Typically that takes three to five weeks.
Then come the fittings, as many as it takes – they are included in the price, so there is no reason to settle for a sleeve a centimetre too long. In practice it takes two or three appointments before shoulder, length and width are right.
Finally we hand it over in person, in the showroom. If your shape changes later, you bring it back: a hand-worked garment can be altered because the seams hold reserve – one of the reasons bespoke suits are worn for decades and off-the-peg is not.
Advice, measurements and fittings happen in the showroom on Albisstrasse in Zurich – by appointment only, so the time is genuinely yours with no second appointment running alongside. The making happens in the atelier in Wädenswil on Lake Zurich. That is the workshop, not a shop: client appointments are always in Zurich.
